Our Story

Since 1995, Hampton Cove Animal Hospital has been dedicated to providing exceptional veterinary care to our community. It all began when Dr. Charles Horton opened our doors with a simple but powerful vision: to deliver the highest standard of care to every pet and every family we serve.

In 1998, Dr. Chris Herring took the lead, building on that strong foundation. Under his guidance, our services expanded, but the commitment to excellence never changed — because we believe that going the extra mile is always worth it.

Our growth continued in 2013 with the launch of Covepets — a dedicated facility offering professional grooming, doggie daycare, and luxury boarding. With this addition, we made it easier than ever to support every aspect of your pet’s well-being.

In August 2021, we completed a full remodel and expansion of our hospital to better serve the pets and families of our community. The updated facility includes multiple dental suites, a modern surgery suite, a dedicated isolation ward, an intensive care unit with oxygen therapy, and a large open treatment area designed to support advanced medical care and close collaboration among our veterinary team.

Throughout the years, our mission has remained the same: Thorough Medicine, Compassionate Care, and Excellent Service. These principles still guide everything we do — and we’re proud to carry that legacy into the future.
